I got to stride 4, and so couldn't find annihilation similar "Home Networking" in step five.  See stride 1 and two above  I am running Win10 Pro. The crazy thing is, information technology was working for a while without doing this or enabling the ICS Service.

Every bit I remember, you had to assign the second adapter a static IP accost?  (Win95 & XP)

Any help would be appreciated.

Internet sharing volition not work if y'all are continued to wifi because the hotspot needs the antenna and you tin't use it at the same time.

From the network connectedness folio right-click Ethernet adapter while property CTRL key and so right-click WiFi adapter.

Once they are both highlighted left-click on an adapter and select Bridge Connection.

Now you tin use your device net.

Note: Laptop wifi antenna is located on the display so leave it open up for higher network speed.

Just came up on this thread to connect a some other PC to a laptop and share the net via ethernet port the Wifi and Ethernet networks must be bridged.

Internet sharing will not piece of work if you are connected to wifi because the hotspot needs the antenna and y'all tin't apply it at the same fourth dimension.

From the network connection page right-click Ethernet adapter while belongings CTRL fundamental and and then right-click WiFi adapter.

Once they are both highlighted left-click on an adapter and select Bridge Connection.

At present you lot can apply your device internet.

Notation: Laptop wifi antenna is located on the brandish so exit it open for higher network speed.

Thank you a bunch, JG(?) both those solutions are going to be useful.  (FYI, I accept an older merely still kickin' HP laptop.  lid airtight of course!  It would exist in the style of the external monitor. . .

Anyhoo, , much appreciated, especially since i worked for nigh xx years an Information technology tech, Help desk-bound then Server applied science  I was an MCSE on Windows 2000 in early on 2001.  I got a congratulatory note in the postal service signed Bill Gates .And then I knew how to span devices, just didn't think of that.

Muchas gracias, once again, and you tin can share this respond with anyone.

iv. Put a check mark on Allow other network users to connect through this reckoner's Internet connection.

5. From the Home networking connexion drop-downwardly menu, select the Microsoft Hosted Virtual Adapter.

6. Click OK to finish.

I got to step iv, then couldn't find anything like "Dwelling Networking" in stride 5.  See step one and 2 above  I am running Win10 Pro.

I had this too, somewhen found I had to enable information technology via the command prompt. If anyone has this issue, start uncheck the sharing you enabled in the commencement 3 steps and restart your pc (otherwise this choice still won't announced).

- Run a command prompt with admin privileges (if unfamiliar with this only search for CMD on the desktop toolbar search, then right click the "Command Prompt" app it finds and run as admin)

- Type:NETSH WLAN set up hostednetwork mode=let ssid=Your_SSID cardinal=Your_Passphrase

- (In the above supplant 'Your SSID' with desired network name and 'Your Passphrase' with a security code of at least 8 messages/digits)

- Type:NETSH WLAN start hostednetwork

- Now do steps 1 to 4 as described in the OP above.

- You should now have options in the home networking drop-down menu

- For footstep v, information technology might not be chosen 'Microsoft Hosted Virtual Adapter', mine was called 'Local Area Connection iii', but it was identified as an MS virtual adapter in its properties. I also had an entry just called 'wifi' - don't apply this one, didn't piece of work for me.

- If you lot want to disable this virtual adapter in the future use the post-obit commands:

NETSH WLAN finish hostednetwork

NETSH WLAN set up hostednetwork mode= disallow

It's actually pretty quick and easy one time y'all've done it one time. Y'all may take to reenable if you reboot your pc.

Notation: I was setting up a pc which had an Ethernet net access connection, and so using its wifi for the new shared connection. Not all wifi cards are suitable for the above, apparently.
